When Vintage Frames Become the Inspiration

Last year, I created a small but deeply meaningful collection that brought together several of my favorite things: old frames, delicate florals, layered textures, and the quiet beauty of reimagining the past. Every piece in this series was framed in vintage or antique finds—each one carefully sourced, cleaned, and paired with sewn abstract art that spoke to its history.

I’ve always had an affinity for vintage objects—their character, their imperfections, their stories. There’s something powerful about giving these forgotten pieces a second life, especially in a world so quick to discard. Many of the frames I used came from estate sales and secondhand shops; some even had dome glass, a rare feature that beautifully supported the more three-dimensional aspects of my work. With beaded florals, hand-cut paper blooms, and textured layers of watercolor and thread, the pieces feel almost like preserved memories—quiet, detailed, and full of heart.

Reusing and repurposing is not just part of my artistic process—it’s something I value in all areas of life. Creating with intention and sustainability allows me to stay grounded while making something meaningful. In these works, the past and present come together in a way that feels timeless.
