What does it mean to commission artwork?
Commissioning art is the process of hiring an artist to create something based on the client’s request. I know this can sound intimidating, especially for the first-time buyer, so let me walk you through the process.
I adore doing commissions! They are one of the highlights of being an artist and creating works for people to enjoy in their homes, offices or studios. I love chatting a bit about the space you are thinking about for the art and past works I have done that you love - which begins as the inspiration for your custom piece.
From there, we discuss color palette, orientation and sizing. I usually start with a rough sketch that I will send over at the beginning of the process for you to approve. I like to send process photos along the way; confirming colors and the layout.
You can find out how far I am booked out on the request form page. But you can expect the piece(s) to be complete within about 2 weeks once I actually begin working.
I offer standard sizes: 6x8, 11x14 (can also do 12x12 if the layout is more suited for that), 16x20, 18x24 and 24x30. I am also open to working with custom sizes which we can discuss in the initial consultation.
Once the design is approved there is a 50% deposit due. Shipping will be an additional cost unless otherwise agreed.
