What does it mean to commission artwork?
Commissioning a piece of art means working directly with an artist to create something made just for you. If you have never done it before, it can feel a little intimidating, but I promise it is a lot of fun!
I absolutely love doing commissions. They are one of the highlights of being an artist, and there is something really special about creating a piece that someone will live with every day in their home, office, or studio.
It usually starts with a conversation about the space you have in mind, the pieces of my work that resonate with you, and what you are drawn to, all of which become the inspiration for your custom piece. From there we talk through color palette, orientation, and sizing. I will send a rough sketch at the start for your approval, and process photos along the way so we can confirm colors and layout together before the piece is finished.
Once we connect, I will let you know my current availability and how far out I am booked. From there, you can expect your piece to be complete within about two weeks of me getting started.
I offer standard sizes: 11x14 (or 12x12 if the layout calls for it), 16x20, 18x24, and 24x30. Custom sizes are also an option and something we can discuss during our consultation.
Once your design is approved, a 50% deposit is required to get things started. Shipping is an additional cost unless we have worked out something different.
